Description: These are the latest (Version 5) national hydrologic unit (HU) boundaries at levels 1-6 for Virginia. They have been created in compliance with the most recent published federal standards for delineation of hydrologic units and contain national WBD HU model changes made since that time up to the publication date. The Virginia NWBD schemas include variations from the national WBD schemas. This dataset covers the whole state and is seamless with the WBD products of surrounding states at the time of publication.

Description: Site address points represent the location of site or service delivery addresses assigned by local governments. This feature dataset contains several attributes which serve very specfic purposes. Feacode is a MSAG Eagle attribute that was primarily set up for printing and scale dependent display functions in the 911 center with some additional features future addresses. This dataset was maintained as an AutoCAD v.14 dwg file from 1998 to 2006 when it was converted to an ArcGIS (9.1) point feature. In 2013 this feature was upgraded to a ArcGIS (10.1) and in 2015 this feature was upgraded to a 10.3.1 point feature. This dataset is reviewed for updates on a regular basis. This dataset is currently being maintained in ArcGIS 10.7.1. Please check the following fields: Unit Type, Status & Pointtype when using this database. Addresses are assigned to any structure which is occupied such as residences, businesses, public uses, governement buildings and any structure where citizens may gather. Addresses are now being assigned to vacant land with the following exceptions(this is a work in progress): Parcels greater than 5 acresParcels with a large amount of road frontage (more than 500 feet)Vacant parcels owned by National Park Service or Spotsylvania County and generally are undeveloped due to environmental and other easement constraints.

Description: Blocks (Census Blocks) are statistical areas bounded by visible features, such as streets, roads, streams, and railroad tracks, and by nonvisible boundaries, such as selected property lines and city, township, school district, and county limits and short line-of-sight extensions of streets and roads. Generally, census blocks are small in area; for example, a block in a city bounded on all sides by streets. Census blocks in suburban and rural areas may be large, irregular, and bounded by a variety of features, such as roads, streams, and transmission lines. In remote areas, census blocks may encompass hundreds of square miles. Census blocks cover the entire territory of the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Island Areas. Census blocks nest within all other tabulated census geographic entities and are the basis for all tabulated data.

Description: The inundation area shows flood water extent at a certain depth on the land surface. This feature class may contain several different and overlapping inundation areas that are uniquely defined by their flood level. Several different engineering firms have performed the required studies and have supplied Spotsylvania County with their data as required by Virginia Dam Safety Act and Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation requirements.

Description: Comprehensive Plan and Future Land Use Map adopted by the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors on November 14, 2013. The Future Land Use Element/ Map is described in the Comprehensive Plan as follows:The purpose of the Land Use chapter is to encourage the appropriate use of land, water, and other resources within the County, consistent with the interests of the citizens of Spotsylvania County. The Land Use chapter is a guide for future land use decisions within the County following these general objectives:Plan for the orderly development of the County Promote a diverse and vibrant economic baseMaximize the use of existing infrastructure and public facilities to ensure the most efficient operation of facilities and the provision of servicesAccommodate projected residential growth in a manner that is fiscally responsibleStrive for safe and affordable housing for people of all agesEnsure land use policies recognize and accommodate anticipated population increasesEncourage a community service sector and a commercial base that meets the needs of the citizens and businesses in Spotsylvania CountyThe element describes land use categories and policies that provide a framework to guide physical development and land use changes in the County. The Future Land Use Map (MAP 1) depicts future land development patterns that are intended promote, preserve, and protect the health, safety, and general welfare of the citizens. The Map is not intended to be parcel specific, but rather provides a flexible guide for the County’s desired future development patterns.Land use designations on the Future Land Use Map do not change a parcel’s zoning classification, nor do they impact continuation of existing legal land uses or other uses permitted by existing zoning. Indeed, new development that is in accordance with the Future Land Use Map should ensure appropriate siting and transitions to existing development that may differ from the identified land use on the Map in order to minimize negative impacts on existing development. Additionally, it should be noted that different densities and intensities of development are appropriate within each of the land use categories. Each application should be evaluated within the context of its surrounding existing and proposed development, as well as the timing of the infrastructure necessary to support the development.Land use decisions should be consistent with the Future Land Use Map. The Future Land Use Map may be amended pursuant to the Code of Virginia §15.2-2.2229.

Description: This dataset was orginially created in AutoCAD version 14 between 2002 and 2005 with assistance from the various superintendents of early, middle and high school education from the Spotsylvania County School Board office. Modifications and adjustments were made as they reported to us by Dr. Scott Worner from 2007 - 2012. In June of 2014, we received a series of polyline shapefile data with show the various school boundary districts by roads. Our revisions are based upon that road, house location and how it accesses the road. Generally property lines are not official boundaries, however they in some cases they were used as guides to help draw the polygons neatly between two districts. Last reviewed in 08/2017.
