Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>A polling place or polling location is where voters cast their ballots in elections. The relationship between voting precincts and polling places is maintained in the PrecinctPollingPlace table and this table should be used to manage the unique occurence of polling places to precincts; as well as occurences that require many voting precincts to be related to a single polling place. Polling places were initially approved by the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors on May 24, 2011 and precleared by the U.S. Department of Justice on July 22, 2011. The Chancellor and Courthouse Polling Places were relocated from the Chancellor Community Center to Chancellor Elementary School and from Fire and Rescue Station 1-Courthouse to the Public Safety Building by the Spotsylvania County Board of Supervisors on July 10, 2012 and precleared by the U.S. Department of Justice on August 07, 2012. The Brents Mill Polling Place was relocated from the Harrison Road Community Center to the Knight of Pythias Building on February 12, 2016 and approved by the Virginia State Board of Elections. State and Federal regulations state that if no suitable location for a polling place can be located within the precinct, a suitable location may be chosen outside of the precinct as long as it within one mile of the boundary of the precinct. </SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
