Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>A study of Spotsylvania County Civil War battlefield sites as prepared by the National Park Service for Spotsylvania County - January 21, 1993. Spotsylvania County was the site of four major battles during the Civil War - Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Spotsylvania Court House, and The Wilderness. 'Related Lands', for the purposes of this study's dataset, are areas outside of the Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania National Military Park's boundaries that are important to the conservation and interpretation of places and events related to the Civil War. The delineations are based entirely on historical considerations, not necessarily contemporary land use or property boundaries.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>Each individual related land area is identified by a three character label. The first letter indicates battlefield association - 'F' 'C' 'W' 'S' - Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, The Wilderness, and Spotsylvania. The second number indicates the level of overall importance, which is also color coded in the dataset. 1 = primary priority [red], 2 = secondary priority [blue], 3 = tertiary priority [yellow]. The third letter indicates a priority ranking with 'A' as the highest priority. For example, 'S-2-A' denotes an area which is on the Spotsylvania Court House Battlefield, in the secondary priority level for that battlefield, and first in priority within that secondary priority level.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN STYLE="font-weight:bold;">Note: </SPAN><SPAN>The 'Original Terrain' field is based off of 2018 imagery and not from the 1993 report.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
